Recycling Exhibition – Hinkley

Last week, my artist friend Liz Waddell and I were invited by Coalville’s Hero Project to take part in an exhibition they were staging at The Atkins Building in Hinkley. The theme of the exhibition was Recycling – so I recycled a few creative outputs from previous projects and took them along.

These included the ‘Walk a Mile in My Shoes’ pieces created by young people in schools and youth provision across North West Leicestershire for Coalville Hero’s WW1 commemorations, as well as poetry work I’d done with schools in Shepshed and Melton.

The Atkins Building is a fantastic venue and the exhibits on show – from a broad variety of artists and organisations – were quirky and interesting to see. Liz took along the Freddies, made from recycled cloth, and lots of people had fun making new ones of their own.

Altogether an enjoyable event – and i look forward to recycling the idea elsewhere!
