Church Mice Writers

Church Mice Writers are a small, sociable group of writers – many retired – who meet on Zoom every Thursday afternoon.

The 75-minute-long sessions are relaxed and chatty, with an eye to supporting well-being and connectedness for writers who may find it difficult to get out and about.

The group grew out of workshops I ran for a community heritage project in 2018, some of which happened to take place in a church. Sessions moved to Zoom over lockdown and we’ve decided to stay online so everyone can continue to take part.

Writing prompts are light-hearted and fun, with no ‘right’ and ‘wrong’ about what writers do with them – true-life tales, poetry or fiction – whatever our writers fancy. (We publish some pieces on Charnwood Chronicles if you’d like to take a look).

The group is deliberately small to allow space for everyone to chat and read aloud their work, but we do have room for a couple of extra members.

NOTE: it’s not necessary to be either religious or a mouse to join in. We’re a quirky group, though, so a sense of humour helps!
